TO ALL YOU WONDERFUL FLYBOYS. I WAS FIGHTING THE WAR ON THE GROUND WHILE YOU FOUGHT YOURS HIGH IN THE SKY. AS A MEMBER OF THE 14TH ARMORED DIV. I SAW THE RESULTS OF YOUR MISSIONS. WE SAW ENEMY TANKS WITHOUT FUEL AND SUPPLIES, WE SAW PLANES WITH NO FUEL OR SHOT UP BY YOU GUYS. WE CAPTURED HUNDREDS OF ENEMY SOLDIERS THAT WERE HUNGRY AND WITHOUT AMMO DUE TO YOUR EFFORTS. FOR EVERY LOSS YOU HAD I CAN TELL YOU THAT YOU SAVED 10 ON THE GROUND. WHEN WE LIBERATED STALAG VIIA ON APRIL 29TH 1945 IT WAS OUR CHANCE TO PAY YOU GUYS BACK FOR WHAT YOU HAD DONE. SO ALL I CAN SAY IS "THANKS" FOR A JOB WELL DONE. COLONEL MILT

Hi, I was just surfing around this am & found this site-I think it is wonderful to keep the memories alive--folks don't realise ou guys didn't have heaters in those beautiful planes-
I am the widow of a WWll-28th Div.112th regiment-B Co.He was wounded & taken POW by the germans--He died from the results later in life-was in a wheel chair--He loved the military planes so while in the Flordia Keys in the winters I took him to the Key West Naval Air Station to whatch the pilots pratice touch & go on the carriers--
Keep the memories going---I do what I can through our POW group
Thanks for having me here and I will come back

I am very happy to read your message to DrKirby.
I live in Hertfordshire not far from your old base at Bassingbourne, in fact as a member opf the Air Training Corp., I used to visit your Squadron with our squadron in 1942.
A year later I volunteered for aircrew service with the Royal Air Force, I trained as an Air Gunner(Tail) with 625 Sqdn, 1 Group, RAF Bomber Command at RAF Kelstern Lincolnshire, als 576 Sqdn at RAF Fiskerton Lincoln. I carried out 30 opperational trips over the continent quite a lot were joint operations with your Fortress squadrons.
With the kind help of Dr Kirby (Jim) I am attempting to form
the Chat group as home page.

A great page. Thanks to Mr Carl Hoffman for his help getting me on the right track to get information on a B-24 pilot lost at Tarawa. We need to instill this type of information and patriotism in our youth of today. Keep up the good work.
